We have been organizing dance festivals in Western Canada for the past 25 seasons. In the beginning, a great need was identified for a “multi-level” festival format in which dancers were adjudicated and marked based upon their years of training. At the time, there weren’t any such festivals where studios could ensure a positive experience and support the dancers irregardless of their years of training, so we decided to start one! Our first Festival was “The Evergreen Dance Festival” and we have expanded to include “Dance Extreme” and “Dream Team” dance festivals hosting dancers from all over Western Canada.
Our goal is further the dance education of young talent in Canada and to encourage excellence in the performance art we all love. We feel that all dancers benefit from experience and pledge to provide that in a positive atmosphere. Every participant receives a mark and medal placement for their performance. We hire only the most professional adjudicators and provide a personal face to face adjudication for every routine.
In addition, “Outstanding”, “Most Promising”, “Adjudicators Choice” and “Choreography” awards are also selected and presented at every adjudication. A $100.00 cash scholarship is guaranteed for every 10 soloists. In the 2003 season we gave out over $50,000.00 in awards and cash scholarships to deserving young dancers. We hope to exceed that in 2004 with festivals in Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Regina, Kelowna and Vancouver (Surrey). We encourage studios to bring all levels of classes and give everyone the opportunity to perform and be rewarded for their efforts.
“The Rocky Mountain Dance Project”:
“The ultimate summer dance camp experience in beautiful Jasper, Alberta!
For the past four summers we have hosted this wonderful Summer Dance Camp called “The Rocky Mountain Dance Project” in the beautiful setting of Jasper.
The camp provides meals and accommodations for the dancers, teachers, councillors and dorm parents. We ensure around the clock supervision with non-stop activities and dance training. I addition to jazz, hip hop, lyrical, tap, musical theatre, turns and progressions, strength and conditioning and technique classes, the dancers get to go swimming, white water rafting, horseback riding, arts and crafts, fashion shows and more!
The instructors for the camp are world class and bring the magic to the experience. Steady faculty include Alex Pesusich & Joanne Pesusich who own the “Groove Street” and “Street Groove” conventions. Each year we round out the faculty with equally gifted instructors and offer classes for dancers aged 7 and over in Junior, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Advanced levels.
The Jasper Activity Centre houses the Dance Project and comes with the use of an “Aqua Centre” c/w waterslide, racquet ball courts, tennis courts, arena, concession, three gymnasiums, showers, change rooms and dorm facilities. Meals are provided three times a day and the food is fantastic! Plenty of supervision is in place and parents are welcome and encouraged to watch or even participate in the classes. A “Weeks Review Presentation” is performed for the parents at the end of the week.
You won’t find better value for your dollar or a better experience for the dancers anywhere! Space is limited, so early registration is recommended
